Workplace Safety Discounts

Workplace Safety Discounts (WSD) is a workplace discount programme offered by ACC to small employers in "high risk" sectors.  The eligible sectors are:

  • agriculture
  • construction
  • fishing
  • forestry
  • motor trades
  • road transport and waste industries

This programme is offered to eligible small employers with 10 or fewer employees.  The benefits of this programme include:

  • A 10% discount on the employer's annual ACC premium
  • The discount is applicable for the full financial year in the year of application i.e. applications received in November, are backdated to April of that year.
  • Three year discount without further application or audit
  • The discipline of participating in an effective health and safety programme that is likely to result in fewer work injuries, less risk of a visit from the Department of Labour, or worse still, a prosecution as a direct result of a "serious harm accident".
  • Lower net costs as a result of employees remaining fit and healthy at work, and not having to pay overtime to cover absences, or recruit new employees to replace injured workers.

  • Gap analysis of any existing H&S System vs entry audit requirements
  • Direct support to complete the initial application form and questionnaire
  • Provision of individually customised and documented health and safety system as required
  • Initial management and staff  training
  • Ongoing support to meet renewal audit requirements including:
    • additional training
    • documentation reviews and amendments
    • pre-audit reviews
    • advice as required e.g. serious harm accidents
