Workplace Safety Management Practices

Workplace Safety Management Practices (WSMP) is a discount programme offered by ACC for medium to large sized employers in any industry group.  There is no minimum number of employees but most participants would have 30+ on the payroll.  The benefits of this programme include:

  • A 10-20% discount on the employer's annual ACC premium
  • Two yearly audit supplied "free of charge"
  • The discipline of participating in an effective health and safety programme that is likely to result in fewer work injuries, less risk of a visit from the Department of Labour, or worse still, a prosecution as a direct result of a "serious harm accident".
  • Lower net costs as a result of employees remaining fit and healthy at work, and not having to pay overtime to cover absences, or recruit new employees to replace injured workers.

  • Advice on programme entry options
  • Gap analysis of any existing H&S System vs entry audit requirements
  • Provision of individually customised and documented health and safety system
  • Initial management and staff  training
  • Assistance with arranging initial audit
  • Ongoing support to meet renewal audit requirements including:
    • additional training
    • documentation reviews and amendments
    • pre-audit reviews
    • advice as required e.g. serious harm accidents
